BAILEY
English Introduction:
Project Showcase:
1800-Ton Heavy-Duty Shoring Towers for Steel Girder Float-Over
Project Vitals:
Client: China Railway 24th Bureau Group (CR24)
Application: Temporary full-framing support towers for a float-over installation
Location: Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China
Structure: Two Type 321 Bailey shoring towers
Load Capacity: 1800 tons (1800T)
A Landmark Achievement in Heavy Civil Engineering Support: In a high-profile collaboration with state-owned enterprise China Railway 24th Bureau Group, we provided the critical support solution for a major bridge construction project in Hangzhou. The challenge was to install a colossal 1800-ton steel box girder segment using the float-over method, a technique that demands absolute precision and immense structural strength from the temporary works.
Engineering Highlights & An Innovative Application:
From Bridges to Towers: This project showcases the incredible versatility of our modular systems. Instead of serving as a bridge, our Type 321 components were engineered into two massive full-framing support towers mounted on barges.
Colossal Load-Bearing Capacity: Each temporary shoring tower was constructed with 11 layers of Bailey panels, reaching a height of 16.5 meters on a 27m x 21m base。 Together, these structures safely supported the entire 1800-ton weight of the steel girder during the delicate lifting and placement operation.
Precision and Control for Float-Over Method: The Bailey towers formed the core of the float-over system. Controlled by a sophisticated barge ballasting system, they enabled the millimeter-perfect maneuvering—lifting, lowering, and shifting—of the massive girder for precise docking onto its permanent piers.
Efficient and Reusable Temporary Works: As a temporary steel structure, the entire Bailey shoring system was designed for rapid assembly and disassembly. This modularity provides significant cost and time savings for large-scale construction projects, as all components are fully reusable.
A Trusted Partner for National-Level Infrastructure: This successful project with CR24 solidifies our position as a leading provider of heavy-duty temporary works solutions. It proves that our modular systems offer the strength, reliability, and precision required for the most advanced and demanding construction methodologies used in critical national infrastructure projects.
